This is a great example of the US rifle powder flask known to collectors as the Peace Flask. These flasks were produced by Batty, American Flask & Cap Co., and Ames from the early 1840s through the mid 1850s, for use with the US Model 1817 Common Rifle and the US Model 1841 Mississippi Rifles.
