Alice Nanogak (Goose) (1925- 2001) was born in the Baillie Islands

I also find it both excellent and amusing that all of this skill and labor was applied to creating a whimsy that houses just one smallish ball inside

sound and stable

I love the cutout edges on this one

2 1/2" across if arms and legs are positioned straight down

Holla Old Fellow Take a Chew, Early 19th C. Lacquered Papier Mache Snuff Box dansk teak coasters Alice Nanogak (Goose) (1925- 2001)I'm so often struck by the playful the use of language on 19th century objects, from snuff to Battersea boxes, and on transferware pottery, too. This snuff box I believe dates to the 1820s or so, as I've found a few other examples with gold text of a similar ilk, and I especially love seeing the use of "Holla" on this one! Pretty fun. 2 7 8" x 1 3 4" x 3 4". Good condition, with a little surface lost on the face, as evident. Great structural condition.
