I find quill work pretty incredible (for a long time I did not believe it was actual porcupine quills that were used) but usually the pieces that cross my path (and that I can afford) are in pretty rough shape

though I am not completely certain

but I love whoever did

This is a quintessential retablo depiction of the Virgin Mary

Very Lovable Naive Dog Painting on Hanging Plate Wilson Novelty Company donkey I find quill work prettyOh, this sweet fluffy creature, a little homely perhaps but more lovable for it, and with this great wagging pink tongue hanging out. Late 19th century or so I believe, painted on a plate (I thought was wood but now am thinking is likely hard paper mache) with a hanger on the back, and with the crackling to the black painted background around his head reading a bit like a halo of static electricity! Better in person and completely empathy inducing.
