Here is an octagonal barreled Rifled "Kentucky" style rifle, which more correctly is known as a Pennsylvania Rifle. The smoothbored . 43 caliber octagonal barrel is 32 1 2" long and the rifle measures 49" in overall length. Most likely this was originally rifled, but then smooth bored for fowling. The back
