No nails, so I presume the base (walnut I believe) was glued on, though done very carefully. I'd guess early 20th century or so. Perfect now for holding or delivering! a rings or other precious little things. 1 5 8" w X 1 13 16" t x 7 8" d and in very good condition, with one small rough spot
