There is a hook on the front of the box that latches the lid to the box

Designed by Nils Thorsson and produced by Royal Copenhagen as part of its Baca series in the late 60s or so; I really love the bird and would use it for tea bags, or olive pits, or sink side for jewelry, or whatever.
