I understand from the seller I bought this from that it was found on Cape Cod

The diagonal lines carved into the eyes make it feel especially as if staring straight at

and some roughness to the interior lip (not visible when closed)

which is both gorgeous and unusual

I purchased this print at the estate sale of a family of artists

Satisfying 19th Century Tin on Wood Carpet Stretcher with Orange Painted Back instructional drawing I understand from the sellerI believe this is a late ish 19th century carpet stretcher. I just love it as an object. The carpet stretchers I have seen of this sort have rows of teeth; here instead a sharp but lovely six petal flower pattern stretched across its surface and nailed to the wooden support, with a perfect orange painted reverse. A satisfying thing. 10 7 16 x 6 7 8 including iron loops x 5 8 thick. Very good antique condition.
