Something about those five pieces of yellow chalk held up by those tall stretches of bent wire really does it for me aesthetically (almost like five abstracted figures lined up in a row)

It seems to me that there are many ways to read this wonderfully executed antique graphite drawing of mother and pups trying to survive a horrible flood (including perhaps as a commentary on the endless demands of motherhood)--and it feels super resonant at the (rather apocalyptic feeling) present moment as we confront one "inundation" after another

I also really love its function with a hole for a stick of incense inside, and then an open channel up the chimney for the smoke to emerge.
