I'm not entirely sure whether this oil on canvas painting was a fragment of a larger work or

I'd guess it dates from the first half of the 20th century

which to my eye has a wonderful sort of wildness and extra visceral feeling to it--like the salty sea itself

though it could be a little older than that

One might guess each of these was modeled after a specific house in the neighborhood of the person who created them, c. 1930s I would guess, maybe just a little earlier each is very much its own particular house, and in each case careful attention is given to the windows, doors, porches, awnings, and chimneys on each side of it. Photos give a good sense and of course I took pleasure in trying
