I would guess it indeed dates to the mid to late 19th century

late 19th or early 20th century I believe

in good part for her wonderful hand-painted face

I'm not quite sure what to see about the decoration on this antique shoe-shaped snuff box

Wonderful details, wonderful face, clearly posed and poised to delight. In what I believe is likely the frame where she has always lived, to which the tin is tacked in the corners by tiny tails, then backed by board. I believe 1840s
