and was probably made as a weight of some sort (it resembles some mat weights and scroll weights

and held a much larger stash of snuff

I wish I know the maker of this thing

SOLD (BH) Tall Double Ball in Cage Whimsy with Old Paint and Hanging Loop late 19th century I've polished it up justAll carved from one piece of wood, this old double ball in cage whimsy with single link at the top measures just over 10 inches tall, making it a nice one to hang on the wall. I think it is a pretty old one, and shows an old layer of brown paint stain with some remnants of silver on top as well, adding just a little sparkle:) The balls roll around freely in their cages and it is in overall good structural shape, showing a few small nicks here and
