COAT, VESICANT GAS PROTECTIVE Colour:OLIVE Made from 100% CottonAccording to their contract numbers, Gas Protective Coats were manufactured in 1962. It was designed to protect the wearer from toxic gas, although the density in the fabric proved otherwise. They had no collar, a gas flap on the front with draw strings around both the waist and hem. The instructions advise that the draw strings on the hem on each side of the jacket to firmly wrap around each leg before adjusting the position of the waist spindle.
