with the wax of his face having aged to nearly black

with some paint loss toward the bottom

and may shed a bit when moved around

a split in the lid of the box

Papier Mache Snuff Box match holders Behind the figure on theAn early one, and a scarce one, the surface of which most definitely shows its age, but I've got a special weakness for images of boxers, including, or perhaps especially, very beaten up ones! And here, in addition to the two gloved men, fists raised, at right, there's a forlorn looking man sitting on the floor, and another hunched over at left rear, who looks aiming to the steal what look to me like a couple of bags of money. Seems likely a late 18th
