Not much is known of this officer except that on April 16th 1947 he was confirmed as a full Submarine Lieutenant from being an "acting" Submarine Lieutenant by King George VI as this was reported in the LONDON GAZETTE in November 1948

While the RPD began production in 1944 this example is almost most likely a post WWII RPD Soviet Machine gun. It is marked with ARROW in an oval on the top plate, which indicates that its made in the Kovrov Arsenal in Russia. The marking is somewhat faint, as are the rest of the markings on the top cover. They can however be read in the right light: (ARROW) "N"A 309 1954 Included with the display gun are an original
