Air Force ground crews in the early 1950s. Designed specifically to ensure crew members were highly visible to pilots while guiding aircraft, its bold colors and striking checkerboard pattern enhanced safety and communication on the flight line. As its sole purpose was to aid visibility, the jacket was typically worn over MA 1s or other uniforms. When first
