Constructed of cupal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Gebirgsjger, respectively, flanked by a date of 1940 and topped by an inscription of NARVIK with a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a non magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool liner
