A bronze star featuring crossed swords with an oak leaf around an AUG 1914 NOV banner with surmounting crown, the reverse is engraved 7923 PTE. T. RYAN. 1 E. LAN. R., measures 43. 2mm (w) x 61. 5mm (h), weighs 25. 5 grams, worn on a replacement ribbon, dark patina, in very fine condition. Footnote: Pte Thomas Ryan served with the East Lancashire Regiment when he earned the 1914 star. He was
